My work in the project field grew naturally from these experiences. I’ve prepared, conceptualised, and written project proposals for programmes such as CERV, Erasmus+, Creative Europe, EED, NED, different partner-country grants, as well as for a wide range of regional, national, local, and foundation-funded calls.
I’ve worked on project ideas in education, culture, remembrance, equality, civic engagement, democratisation, human rights, transitional justice, and youth participation, and have supported organisations with fundraising, partnership development, regional consortium coordination, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation. In the process, I have also built a broad and reliable network of regional and European civil society organisations, educational and research institutions, and cultural organisations. Thanks to years of field work, I have a deep understanding of their profiles, capacities, and interests, which allows me to quickly identify the right partners for each project.
Beyond proposal writing, I help organisations implement and coordinate approved projects, ensuring activities run smoothly, objectives stay aligned, and the project’s purpose guides every stage of the process. Across all roles, my approach is guided by a simple belief: project development should be collaborative, clear, and grounded in real organisational needs. My goal is to help organisations turn meaningful ideas into projects that are well-designed, fundable, and genuinely impactful.

About me
I am Margareta Blažević, a project designer, coordinator, researcher, and consultant with an academic background shaped by two interdisciplinary degrees: a MSc in International Crimes, Conflict and Criminology (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) and a BSc in Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics (University of Amsterdam). My academic and professional work has always centred on understanding people, memory, human rights advocacy, and the socio-political dynamics of conflict and new democracies.

Previous Experience
Over the past decade, I’ve worked across the Western Balkans and Europe in roles that combined research, programme design, institutional collaboration, and community engagement. I have worked with research and human rights institutions including the Vrije Universiteit, Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement and the War Childhood Museum, alongside several formative years in youth leadership and project coordination through the European Youth Parliament.

Before However
Before founding However, I was a Programme Officer at the Youth Initiative for Human Rights Croatia, coordinating regional projects on justice, memory, human rights, and youth participation. I worked with partners across the Western Balkans, developed educational programmes, and contributed to publications, workshops, partnerships, and organisational planning.

However was created after years of working within and alongside civil-society organizations, educational institutions, and associations, where I saw many meaningful ideas fail to become projects as teams struggled with limited time, resources, and direction. Too often, vision gets lost between inspiration and application, between what is possible and what seems manageable.
I found However to bridge that gap. It’s built on the belief that good ideas deserve structure, time, and care, as well as that project development should feel collaborative, creative, and inspiring rather than overwhelming. Having worked across the Western Balkans on EU, regional, and local projects, I have seen that organisations don’t lack ambition; they lack space to think and plan with confidence.
That is where However comes in. It is a consultancy and a collaborative space where ideas are designed with purpose and grounded in empathy for the real-world challenges organisations face. It was my wish to help organisations overcome those challenges by assisting them in planning, conceptualising, and writing projects that are not only fundable but deeply aligned with who they are and what they want to achieve. My work can also continue beyond the proposal stage – through coordination, management, and mentoring during project implementation to maintain quality, coherence, and impact.
The name However carries a belief in persistence, resilience, and imagination. It’s about staying curious when things stall, seeing possibility where others see limits, and remembering that there is always another way to move and to make things move.
